The repercussions of the pandemic are immense. It challenges public health, food, and housing systems, and its economic and social disruptions are devastating.

Many have lost their means to earn an income, leaving people isolated, unhoused, and undernourished.

Shelters and respite centers are over crowded and most often only offer protection from the cold in congregate settings, with high risk for spreading the virus. In Toronto alone, current data states that more than 6,000 people already use its shelter services.

Food bank use has skyrocketed up to 6 times what it was during the same period in 2019.

The opioid crisis is also exacerbated. Opioid related deaths have increased by almost 40% since the start of the pandemic, influenced by increased stress and insufficient harm reduction services available.

Welcome Cannabis is working with the Encampment Support Network (ESN) to help provide FEED & WEED relief to Encampment Residencies. FEED & WEED will provide hot, nourishing meals and access to safe cannabis as a harm-reduction measure.

Monetary and non-perishable donations can be made at Welcome Cannabis. Suggested items for donations include dried/canned beans, canned vegetables, flour, oil, carrots, onions, celery, and garlic.

Monetary donations will be used to purchase local produce and proteins to create hot meals, and donated ESN for safe cannabis.

We made our first donation towards safe cannabis on Christmas Day, and our next Feed & Weed drop will be on January 29th.

Together, lets help heal our community.
