Where to Find Meditation

My happy place is laying on a board and floating out on the ocean. Taking in the views off in the distance, above me, and deep into the ocean.

One reason why I've put focus on surf in my life, is because it gave me my first significant experience of being mindful and present.

It was in the combination of necessities it took for me to actually get up on the board that prepared me. The physical and mental focus and determination just to get out there past the break. Reading the waves. Feeling their power. Then finally getting up to stand on a wave even for a second, and being so connected with nature.

The "OMG I'M STANDING ON WATER" quickly passed and then there was nothing else. Just quiet.

It made me realize that we didn't need to sit cross legged on the ground to get the benefits of meditation. We can and should find it in other parts of our life, whether it's painting or skydiving. The more places we can find it in our lives, the better.

Where do you find it?
